EMC BIKER DAYS 2012 IN GERMANY

It is not an organization, no club and no racing event, but a
motorcycle event held annually, to take on the Christian Motorcycle
clubs from around Europe, sometimes with guests from other continents.
EMC (European Motorcyclists for Christ) is a loose association and
meeting place for motorcycle riders and clubs with the same passion
for motorcycles and for Jesus. The EMC isn’t affiliated to any
denomination or church, so all Christians are welcome, no matter what
motorcycle they ride or to which church they belong to.
The event takes place on the first weekend in August every year and is
conducted always in another country from another club.

2012 the EMC BIKER DAYS will be held in Germany. More precisely, in
the magnificent Upper Franconia, in the town of Forchheim, which  lies
on the outskirts of the Franconian Switzerland, the motorcycle
paradise throughout the region. In 2012 we are the organizers, the CMF
- Christian motorcyclists Franconia -. The BIKER DAYS start on
Wednesday, the first August at 19.00 clock and end on Sunday, the 5th
August with a final motorcycle worship at 10.00 o’clock.
The program includes various events such as a church Service every
night at 19:00, following live bands and fire spectacle. Furthermore
we arrange workshops, seminars, campfires, barbecues, bike rides, and
convoys through the city of Forchheim. The detailed program can be
found here in December. There is plenty of time to relax, recharge
your batteries, and opportunities to talk, to explore the beautiful
countryside of Upper Franconia.
For those, who stayed young at heart, there are  funny games - Club
against Club. Meanwhile the children find care within the Rally. The
CMF invites all clubs, associations and bikers to come to Forchheim
for the EMC BIKER DAYS 2012. You are warmly welcome to meet bikers
from across Europe, to experience God and you to learn something about
yourself.

Hello all,

I just wanted to tip you off that we are now slowly adding info to the webpage www.emcrally.com regarding the EMC rally in Norway next summer. Last info out now is the info on booking of cabins and rooms on the rally grounds, which has a booking deadline of April 15th. Further down you can see our rally poster, and below that our rally promotion slideshow and a map of Kvam (please note there are several Kvams in Norway - make sure you pick the right one. Search for "Kvam,Nord-Fron" on maps.google.com).

You may want to distribute these news to your club so they have a chance to book cabins/rooms.

Still to come on the webpage is more excact info on air, ferries, driving routes and other accomodation choices in the vicinity of the campgrounds. Here's a quick mashup out of the top of my head on this for now:

Accomodation: We have plenty of tent space on the rally grounds, a limited number of cabins and rooms, as well as dorm rooms. In addition, we are also going to publish some more local accomodation options if tent is not your thing (we're getting older - at least some of us...)

Air travel: Oslo has three airports. The shortest and cheapest connection to Kvam is via Oslo's main airport, Gardermoen (airport code OSL). This is where the big (and expensive) companies such as KLM, SAS, Lufthansa, British Airways etc. fly. Even Norway's low-cost airline Norwegian has a lot of routes going there. The other two Oslo airports are Torp (TRF) and Rygge (RYG). Both are 1-2 hours extra drive away from Kvam, but cheap airlines like Ryanair (both airports) and Norwegian (Rygge) operate there. From all airports, bus and train will take you to Kvam - the easiest is train (www.nsb.no) - however both Rygge and Torp has shuttle bus connections (free with train ticket), only Gardermoen is a combined train and air terminal. If you are travelling more people together, you might want to consider driving a rental car instead.

Ferries: You shold check out colorline.no and stenaline.no from Denmark to Norway, or via Sweden there are several options, like finnlines.com, tt-line.se, scandlines.se and stenaline.se. Colorline has the quickest, often cheapest and most practical link between Hirtshals, Denmark and Larvik, Norway and is normally the ferry I take the most when going to continental Europe. A bonus is a pretty nice and scenic route to the rally, unless you pick the boring and crowded E18+E6 through Oslo.

Routes: My recommended route if you land in Larvik with Colorline would be road no. 40 direct north to Geilo, then on to Fagernes on 51. It will take you through beautiful valleys along lakes through the woods where you might encounter moose (just don't hit it), over wide view mountain plains where you might even encounter reindeer or the less spectacular sheep, before arriving in the Gudbrandsdal valley where Kvam is.

OK - check back on emcrally.com often for more detailed and updated info, we will update regularly in the time to come.
